10.04.2007 — Mullen Hires Gordon Nelson as Senior Vice President, Loyalty and Credit Card Marketing

Mullen announced today that Gordon Nelson has returned to the agency as senior vice president, loyalty and credit card marketing. Nelson joins the senior management team in Mullen’s Detroit office, where he will help lead the group’s extensive customer relationship management (CRM) and credit card marketing practices. Nelson was an instrumental figure in the creation of Mullen’s Detroit organization and a lead consultant to General Motors on the launch of the new GM Card.

“Gordon is one of the best in the business and we’re delighted to have him back at Mullen in an important management role,” said Joe Grimaldi, chief executive officer of Mullen. “He has intimate knowledge of our Detroit office, our GM client and our Mullen culture overall.”

Nelson was most recently with MasterCard as a senior executive with the HSBC account team. He was responsible for managing and developing the bank partner business relationship with General Motors. Previously Nelson was a marketing and database consultant to General Motors, including serving as a member of the GM/HSBC GM Card Management Committee from 1988 through 2004. From 2004 -2005 he was assigned to advise GM on the development of the company’s CRM strategic planning initiative. Nelson has 20-years of client-side experience with US Bank, Fleet Bank and HSBC. Additionally, he has 16 years experience with agencies including Mullen; Fallon; and Pagano, Schenck & Kay.
