With the stands buzzing in anticipation, the Mullen Swingers took the field last night against Google in the Wicked BISSA softball championship game. There was an eerie feeling in the air. The Mullen Miracle had made an improbable run to the title game, and destiny seemed to be on their side. After scrapping and impressing through the first two rounds, defeating the #1 & #2 seed teams of Liberty Mutual and Yahoo!, the Swingers and their loyal following knew that it was just a matter of seven innings before the trophy was theirs.
And then it happened – run after run, out after out, the Swingers battled tooth and nail, leaving it all out on the field. With their boisterous fans drawing glares from Boston Common patrons and their spectacular play sending shivers down their opponent’s back, the Mullen Swingers won 13-9. Victory. Championship. Destiny.
Thank you everyone for their support of this team this season. We couldn’t have done it without you. The engraved trophy is on its way, and parade plans will be soon revealed once we get the OK from the mayor.
